Rumors concerning the name Apple will choose for its upcoming 4-inch iPhone have shifted several times, leaving it unclear what Apple will ultimately call the device when it launches in March.
Early information suggested the 4-inch iPhone would look like the iPhone 5c, leading the media to refer to it as the “iPhone 6c,” but rumors later shifted towards a design similar to the iPhone 5s with the name “iPhone 5se.” Shortly ahead of the device’s launch, new information suggested it could actually be called the “iPhone SE,” doing away with Apple’s standard number-based iPhone naming scheme.
iPhone 6c, iPhone 5se, and iPhone SE all refer to the same 4-inch iPhone.
The 4-inch iPhone, name to be determined, will look similar to an iPhone 5s on the outside, but inside, there’s new hardware. It’s expected to include an A9 processor, an improved 12-megapixel camera, an NFC chip for Apple Pay, and more.
